Review: Bionic Biotic by Pooch & Mutt
What do you feed your dog? This is can be an emotive topic, with many view points and to be honest, for the average person, a minefield to try and understand. I would say, and hope, that most people want to do the best for their beloved pooch, well, why wouldn’t you? But, if you start researching dog food what’s in it, where it’s made, the additives, the laws controlling dog food production or speak to your vet, or people who work with dogs, you will find many different opinions and suggestions. It can be extremely confusing to understand.
However, I believe the main argument should be ensuring that your dog is healthy, not over/under weight, full of vitality, clear eyes, good skin and coat and, just like us, this will be evident by what you are feeding them.
Barney has always been a fussy eater with varying stool consistency. I have worried about what he is eating or not eating, I have admonished Mr SLT for randomly feeding him titbits, I have tried him on many different diets and brands, had many trips to the vets which included blood tests for bacteria, courses of antibiotics and finally a likely diagnosis that Barney has IBS, with the suggested option of cutting all food out of this diet, feeding him a ‘scientific dog food’ (i.e. not food at all) and slowly adding food back to see what is upsetting his digestive system. To be honest, I didn’t want to do this, I am not a fan of ‘scientific dog food’ and I had doubts that Barney would even eat it at all, so I decided to look for other ways.
I feel we have now got Barney to a good place with his diet, but I was looking for something extra to help him recover from all the antibiotics and bacteria he had in his digestive system. Enter Bionic Biotic by Pooch & Mutt, a probiotic supplement, which is added to dog food in order to help promote healthy stools, healthy skin, glossy coat, optimum weight, digestion and immunity.
We first came across Pooch & Mutt treats, I was impressed by the company’s mission statement and their credentials (and I loved their packaging). All ingredients are bought in the UK and all production takes place in the UK. Pooch & Mutt is the UK’s first ethically approved dog supplement specialist and they are also approved by PETA, all very important to my decision-making on what we feed Barney, oh and did I mention that Barney LOVES their treats, every single flavour?
I found Bionic Biotic on the Pooch & Mutt website and it seemed exactly what I was looking for to help Barney’s digestive system recover. There are 101 reviews, all of them giving 5 stars for the product with seemingly miraculous results for itchy skin, solid stools, glossy coats and general vitality, and if that doesn’t sell it to you, a money back guarantee if you don’t see results within 3 weeks AND a free dog food sample should!
- Skin & Coat: Omega 3&6, Soya Oil, Biotin, Methionine, Zinc

- Immunity: Probiotic, Omega 3&6, Iron, Selenium

And the website goes into each ingredient in much more detail.
The supplement is a powder and should be added daily to your dog’s food, for Barney’s weight, it was recommended to add 1 teaspoon, which I did gradually over a week. I started noticing a difference in his stools within the first few days, the consistency was better more often. Barney didn’t seem to notice it in his food, he didn’t sniff it and walk away, so that was a positive start! People who knew Barney, started commenting that he seemed to have the ‘spring’ back in his step, he was more bouncy and playful, he’d not been interested in playing with the other dogs whilst out on our walks.
We have now finished the first pack, for a dog of Barney’s size (< 10 kg) the packet should last around 2 months, and I will be re-ordering this supplement, we have consistently noticed a difference in Barney’s stools and he doesn’t seem to scratch so much anymore. I am not a dog food expert, I can only go by what I see coming out of Barney, how he appears to be happier and healthier in himself, and that works for me. Maybe it will work for your dog, just like the 101 other people who have left a review on the website.
Take a look at Pooch & Mutt’s website for more details and information on their supplements, dog food and dog treats.
Note: This review is my honest and independent opinion, I have not been paid to review this product, however I was sent it to trail by Pooch & Mutt.
