Stolen Dogs Amy & Archie ~ 13 March 2019, Barnstaple, Devon
It really breaks my heart to write about another two dogs who were stolen earlier this year in Barnstaple, Devon, Amy and Archie. Both are beautiful and much loved family dogs. Amy is a Border Terrier cross French Bulldog and Archie is a Border Terrier.
It is always an honour to share missing/stolen dogs stories, I can only hope that it will help in some small way, to raise awareness, maybe jog someone’s memory of the day or make someone realise the devastation and pain the families feel when their dog is stolen or goes missing.
The Day They Went Missing/Stolen
Every missing/stolen dog story is unique, every one is heartbreaking, none more so than Jackie’s.
Amy and Archie went missing from their home in Bishops Tawton, Barnstaple, on Wednesday 13 March 2019. Jackie was at Exeter Hospital, taking a friend for her chemotherapy treatment. The appointment was running late, so Jackie phoned a friend and asked him to let her dogs out.
Unfortunately, he did this, by leaving Jackie’s front door open, not putting them back in and closing the door. Amy and Archie ran off, probably trying to find Jackie. They have never been seen, since that day.
Jackie’s friend is extremely sorry for his actions and did not wish to cause Jackie this heartache.
Extensive Campaign for Stolen Amy & Archie
Jackie believes it is likely that Amy and Archie were found and either sold on or have been re-homed, possibly together or separately. Her campaign started in earnest to raise awareness in every way she could think of. This included;
- Poster distribution.
- Dog searches.
- Contacting the police (which, as in most cases, has not been really helpful).
- FACEBOOK posting, joining groups and sharing Amy & Archie’s photos to spread the word and raise awareness.
- Drone search, thermal imagining, checking down rabbit holes and badger sets within a one mile radius.
- She has contacted local newspapers, and radio stations and all vets within a 5 mile radius.
As you can see, Jackie is not giving up on Amy & Archie and she will not rest until they are back home with her. She has turned her sadness and anger into a campaign to raise awareness of pet theft and to put a stop to pet theft, to get the word out there, hoping to make people aware of not leaving their dogs alone in gardens, cars or outside shops.
Jackie Will Never Stop Looking for Amy & Archie
Jackie is heartbroken, she finds every day they have been missing hard, as she misses them so much. She is tired from her extensive campaigning but she has made a promise to Amy and Archie;
‘that she will never give up searching for them’.
She is truly thankful to everyone who has helped her so far, sharing posts, sharing warning posts to help put a stop to pet theft and supporting her in any way they can.
When she eventually finds them, she will hold a celebration party to thank everyone for their help and support.
Until she does, she has this message for Amy & Archie;
To my beautiful dogs, I send you both this heartfelt message;
Every waking moment of my day I miss you with all of my being. I love you with all my heart and miss you terribly. I miss your love and affection, friendship, cuddles and licks. Our walks together will now, never be the same, I can’t even walk where we used to go.
I am trying to find you the best way I know how.
To Archie, I miss your love, our ball games, even your stubbornness, the way you love Amy and always cuddle into her. You never sleep without her beside you.
To Amy, I miss your beautiful affection, the way you sleep with your tongue out, your never ending playfulness, your love of everyone. You love your bother like nothing else and are always beside him.
I truly hope you are both well and happy in the situation you find yourself in.
I can promise you both, I will never give up on finding you.
