Barney’s 4th Birthday
This Saturday, 16th September, will be Barney’s 4th birthday. We can’t believe that Barney has been with us for nearly four years. We brought him home from Battersea Dogs Home on 6th December 2013 as a 10 week old puppy.
Barney brought us a lot of joy at a painfully heartbreaking time, after our first puppy was fatally run over by a car. We were heart-broken.
Barney was very different to our first puppy, he was independent, fearless and he pee’d everywhere! This didn’t stop us falling in love with him and slowly our broken hearts mended.
Now he’s a typical Border Terrier, stubborn, selectively deaf, a squirrel watcher and huge lover of food! He loves to have his neck scratched, be chased around the garden with a ball in his mouth and snuggles on the sofa.

Barney’s Birthday Wish List
I love to spoil our dogs on their birthday. We don’t have children, so the chance to buy birthday presents for Barney and Sandy is hard to resist (for me anyway!). I do wrap the presents up for Barney because he loves to rip them open (that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it 😉 ).
I have a few presents for Barney, which if he could talk, I’m sure they would feature on his ‘birthday wish list’.
FurryFido Interactive Chew Ball
What dog doesn’t love a ball? This treat dog ball, helps to keep your dog mentally and physically stimulated as they figure out how it dispenses treats as they play. It is made of non toxic thermoplastic which is durable and supposed to be indestructible! They come in bright, dog friendly colours.
Trixie Dog Activity Flip Board
As we are moving into autumnal weather, a toy like this is great for those days when you can’t get out for a walk. Another mentally and physically stimulating toy. Your dog gets the treats by using different techniques for opening the indentations. The board game has two cones and indentations with hinged lids and sliders. It should keep Barney and Sandy busy for a while!
Barry Badger Plush Soft Toy by Animal Instincts
You can’t have a birthday wish list without a doggy soft toy on it! After the great success with Sammy Squirrel, we had to get another one from the Forest Friends collection, we chose Barry Badger. This soft toy has a squeaker, and is made of ultra soft fabric, with plenty of appendages for Barney and Sandy to chew on!
Doggy IncrediBubbles Everlasting Bubbles for Dogs by Pet Qwerks
These are not your average bubbles! These non-toxic, dog friendly bubbles land without popping on the floor or lawn and I’m sure they will be great fun for the dogs to chase around and try to catch!
Hear Doggy Ultrasonic Plush Blowfish by goDog
This one caught my eye because it has a squeak, THAT ONLY DOGS CAN HEAR. Yes! a squeak that only the dogs can hear. So Barney and Sandy can enjoy the sound and sensation of the squeaker without annoying us! Sounds like the perfect soft toy!
Treats from Hounds About Town
All the treats from Hounds About Town went down a storm, when we bought the ‘Little Dog Box’ recently. The selection was a great introduction to what Hounds About Town offers. Barney and Sandy really enjoyed the crunchy treats and chews, particularly the Pizzle Chew, the Venison Sticks and the Beef Chews. So a selection of these will be greatly appreciated by them both.
All these presents will be wrapped with Paw Print tissue wrapping paper, easy for Barney to rip open!

Mr. N would also really like the badger and flip board. He only likes plush squeaky toys and/or food puzzle toys. All other toys have no interest fo rhim.

Happy almost Birthday to Barney! I love that badger, but if I bought it for my dogs, I am not sure I could let Theo have it. He can be so destructive at times, that I hate to give him cute toys.
What a great list. Shasta loved his interactive toys and his favorite toys always had a squeaker in them, he didn’t bark much but would demonstrate being excited and happy by grabbing a squeaky toy and going to town. When multiple dogs are in the house I think I WOULD LOVE the toy that squeaks for only dogs to hear… BOL Happy birthday Barney!
Kilo loves plush and puzzles and of course treats (he’s a pug). I’d love the Flip Board for him. We always make him work for some of his food each day. He has so much fun.
